School starting already?! Where has the time gone? This month is all about getting back into the swing of things. With a new school year starting, I thought I would share some tips and tricks to help mornings go smoother. This is for you busy moms and students in a rush on early school mornings.
An easy tip for the days when all you want to do in stay in bed an extra 10 minutes is whip out your Dry Shampoo!! It’s a life saver and I can easily say Aveda’s Dry Shampoo is the “holy grail” of all my products! It absorbs excess oils and provides texture without drying out your hair. Combine a couple sprays of Thermal Dry Conditioner to provide protection from styling tools while adding a touch of moisture! These products will help get rid of unwanted oils and keep your hair conditioned at the same time! Showering the night before is also a great way to save on time! Not a fan of sleeping on wet hair but feel like blow-drying takes too long? We have the trick for you! Coming soon to Aveda is the Speed of Light Blow-Dry Accelerator (available in salon Mid-September.) This spray makes it easy for you to dry your hair in record time! You can use this even if you shower in the morning because it will help get you out the door while saving you the unwanted blow-dry time. Last but not least… The guys that want a fresh style will love Men’s Thickening Paste. This product instantly thickens hair while adding pliable hold to create any style. Take a small amount, rub in hands and then apply! Can be used on towel dried or blow-dried hair! Remember the no-make up challenge we had last month? All True North staff participated in the challenge, even our esthetician Isabel! She made it 2 days out of 3 days for the no-makeup challenge. Isabel mentioned she found it challenging because it was a big step out of her comfort zone, but likes the idea of change and wants to continue with the challenge. Join us this month in continuing to embrace your natural beauty! Keep us updated on how your challenge goes! Tag us in your no-makeup pics on our socials (Instagram, facebook) with the hashtag #embraceyourtruenorth! I hope you have an amazing September! -Hanna

This past month we have had some amazing women step up to stop the stigma of hiding your natural beauty by starting the process in going grey. These women inspired me to start embracing my natural beauty and I want to inspire other women to join in on embracing theirs, too. Whatever age you may be, let’s flaunt it together!
This inspired me to start thinking of other things we should start embracing. Why aren’t we embracing who we are as people? What is it that makes you, you? When did it all start that we had to hide who we are? We should be nothing but happy in our own skin. My feelings towards this were also sparked by Aveda’s new campaign “Know What You’re Made of” and if you follow our socials you will notice we post a lot about it. The thing is, posting and truly embracing ourselves are two different things. My question is, why are we holding back from allowing others from getting to know who we really are? The fact that all these women are starting to embrace their natural hair color makes me want to start embracing things about myself that I try to conceal. On that note, I decided I am going to try to go 3 days without makeup. I have put a lot of work into my skincare routine and have become really happy with how my skin has turned out. I used to always feel the need to wear makeup to cover up the unevenness and bumps I had. Now that a lot of that has changed I need to start embracing how it looks and flaunt what I have! So I am challenging all of you to come up with one thing you try to conceal and flaunt it! Only if it’s for a day it’s still a step in the right direction. Continue to try to make it longer until it becomes something you are confident in. I will keep you posted on how my challenge goes for myself! Let me know if you think of something else we should be embracing that we don’t. Tell me how your challenge goes, I’d love to hear about it! XO, Isabel |
